This blackened mahi mahi with mango salsa is a quick healthy dinner you can whip up in no time. Chunks of mango, avocados, and tomatoes mixed with cilantro and lime really give this dish a kick.

So I came up with this blackened mahi mahi recipe when trying to come up with new dinner ideas to cook that are on the some what healthier side.  Of course we are always trying to lose weight, but don’t always succeed at it.  It’s hard with a husband who doesn’t eat vegetables and doesn’t really like chicken except for dark meat.

Blackened Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos Recipe with Mango Salsa: delicious mahi mahi fish tacos seasoned with a homemade blackened seasoning served up with a fresh mango salsa and avocado crema.

As I’ve gotten older and a lot more patient, mostly due in part to having a 3-year-old, I’ve been enjoying more and more the entire cooking process and the same goes with these blackened Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos Recipe and Mango Salsa.  Whether that’s prepping everything beforehand or cleaning up, or making a simple blackened seasoning like in this recipe.  Maybe it’s just pride in my cooking or my kitchen, but I’m enjoying the cycle in its entirety.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 mahi mahi filet

Blackening Seasoning:
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp salt

Mango Salsa:
  • 1 medium avocado
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 1 juice of a lime
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup mango

Instructions:

  1. First, Chop up tomatoes, avocado, mango, and cilantro and add to a bowl and mix together with the lime juice and refrigerate 
  2. Second, Add all blackening spices together and mix
  3. Next, Pat fish dry an add seasoning to all sides of the fish
  4. Add olive oil to a pan over medium/high heat and once heated add fish to the pan.  Cook for 4 minutes on one side then flip and cook for another 4 minutes
  5. Plate the fish and top with the salsa.
